What are digital X-rays?

Digital X-rays are an advanced diagnostic tool we use at Renaissance Dental Enhancement Center to ensure that we provide you with the best possible treatment. The state-of-the-art digital radiography equipment we use has made the process more comfortable, quicker, and more convenient than it has ever been. Digital X-rays use digital sensors to take images of your teeth, rather than using film. These X-rays use as much as 90% less radiation and do not take extra time or chemicals to develop. The digital X-rays provide instant high-quality images that our friendly dentist can examine with you in the treatment room in order to give you efficient and accurate diagnoses that you can see and understand. Dr. Derek M. Stephens uses digital radiography in Merrillville, Indiana to diagnose a range of dental problems, such as:

  • Decay between the teeth
  • Developmental irregularities
  • Improper tooth root positioning
  • Cysts and abscesses
  • Fractures within fillings
  • Infection of tooth nerves
  • Bone loss
  • Tumors

We can also use digital radiography to prepare for certain dental treatments, such as dental implants, TMJ treatment, and oral surgery.
